I meant that, if released versions are tagged in Git, Gitorious already provides auto-generated tarballs. It's not as ideal as the releases being explicitly made available on a download page, but it's better than having the two being inconsistent. Though, even then, MeeGo does it for many of their modules and it is not the ideal situation.
