Hi Folks,

Philip Balister and I have been discussing creating an interface board to connect the Beagle Board to a USRP Transmitter/Receiver daughterboard for a while now, and with the formal launch of the Beagle Board, we've decided to push forward with the effort. Philip established this list to keep track of suggestions, keep interested people updated, and solicit folks to assist with the effort.

I have set this up as a student research/design project up here at the US Naval Academy. We have some really sharp folks up here, but being undergraduates, they have more breadth of knowledge than depth (which is partially why we're interested in feedback/assistance from the community). Our goal is to have a prototype interface board ready by December, with a complete system running by April/May '09.

Brian -- Thanks for the suggestions on the FPGA. We've been using the Altera parts up here for several years now, so our guys are definitely familiar with the development process. Personally, I'm leaning towards the EP3C16 to help keep the costs down. We're probably going to use the AD9862 ADC/DAC (which is basically the same thing used on the USRP), which retails for $57.75 on Digikey.

Chris
