"40W" means the bootloader never got installed, or the partition was
not setup correct.

So retry: "ubuntu-12.10-console-armhf-2013-03-28" with setup_sdcard.sh

Okay, if you don't care about a gui, just use this one:

It'll work just fine on the classic beagle.
