I think that honestly the only real use is for hobbyists, and the outside case where a company / firm needs that extra ram for compiling something. But recently a friend of mine asked me for some help with getting wireshark to compile on the board . . . setting up a USB hard drive with a swap file was not too difficult - But surely slower compared to RAM. Aside from that, I can think of at least a few non questionable uses for it. Data logging - File in memory, would be one.
