I mostly go for mp3 320 versions, however with few exceptions for artists
that have a lot of instrumental complexity that I'll keep a couple of
albums of FLAC around (Streetlight Manifesto or RX Bandits for example). I
haven't yet imported FLAC versions into my beets library which is why this
thread piqued my interest.
So far I am pretty content with these settings:
paths:
default: $initial/$artist/$album%aunique{}/$disc_and_track $title
item_fields:
initial: |
strippedartist = ''.join(ch for ch in artist if ch.isalnum()) or '_'
if strippedartist[0].isdigit():
return '#'
return strippedartist[0].upper()
disc_and_track: u'%02i.%02i' % (disc, track) if
disctotal > 1 else u'%02i' % (track)
'item_fields' courtesy of the inline plugin if I recall correctly...
