Oh sure Perl and html are different. For practical purposes Perl is 
universal while html is a faux language created expressly for
the internet. Can you imagine ssh in html? 

I've never seen a console screen blanker, but I am comfortable in a 
console window and prefer it to GUI; my knowledge of Linux is very 
limited; and I don't have a dual boot system. I do have a couple of 
books: Linux Programming, a beginners guide which includes Perl, 
Tcl and Gawk basics and the 4th ed Complete Resource for Linux, 
which may not be helpful. 

Maybe this is a crazy idea?
