You might have better luck by syncing everything except the address books. 
Usually OTA activations tend to time out when the device is downloading the 
contacts if there's a significant amount of contacts to download, either due to 
internal network traffic or OTA traffic. Then once the device is activated go 
back in the BES console and set it to sync the contacts, the device will 
restart the enterprise activation and start to download the contacts.

He's got thousands of emails..hundreds of contacts..
It's been running a few hours..
I deleted the BES User acct but immediately added it back - I'll try with the 5 
min wait tomorrow.  Will also check the port.

Have u tried turning wireless synch off and then back on? Have u tried 
resending service books?

I'm running the latest BES along with 4.5 on the BB8820 in an Exchange 
environment. It's set to wirelessly synch Contacts but doesn't.  Any ideas?

Also when I tried wiping device and reactivating it - it seems to hang a 
synching Desktop...  It says Calendar completed.  The status is 0%.
