While we’re on the subject: I use HP Systems Insight Manager for all hardware monitoring. We use about 95% HP hardware and this tool alerts me to any hardware, driver, firmware, warranty, and lots of other issues that can come up for any HP device and lots of other devices like our APC UPS, HP Printers…pretty much anything. It even alerts HP to send us a hard drive or power supply when one fails before I even know about it.
Although HP SIM can do performance monitoring and reporting, we’ve discovered that Heroix is better. As of right now I don’t use any BES specific monitoring. I’m waiting for our Heroix guy to change the name of his server before we install BES monitoring…and with BES 5.0 out which requires you uninstall besmon 4.1 and install besmon 5.0, i think i’ll wait even longer.
