That has happened to us during patching sessions and having to reboot our
DC's. We had to set the "send as" permissions back to Full Control on the
BB user's AD profiles to be able to send from their BB's. Check those
permissions...

Did you check what the patches were supposed to fix when the problem
occurred? Maybe they were temporarily rescinding access to the 'send as'
permission?

Subject: [Bes-admins] AD Domain Controller reboots causing send problems

Greetings,

Occasionally, we have had a problem where our domain controllers are
rebooted due to patching or a power outage and this has caused a problem
where our BB users were unable to send email (receive was ok) until the BES
services were restarted. BTSC hasn't offered any insight yet. We're
opening a case with RIM, but since it's an intermittent problem and one that
isn't easily recreated I'm not expecting great results from them.

In early May, the dc's were patched & rebooted - problem occurred.

In early June, the dc's were patched & rebooted - problem did not occur.

In late June, a power outage occurred - but no issue for the BES.

In early July (today), the dc's were patched & rebooted - problem occurred.

We have 4 domain controllers on the same subnet (AD Site) that the Exchange
2007 & BES servers reside in. During patching, the reboots are staggered
so that there is only 1 down at a time.

Any thoughts?

Trevor
