Hany, thank you for the correction on BIS. I would use the proxy but then everyone is using that accounts access and some sites are restricted to specific users... So they either woukdnt get to those sites, or everyone would get to them.

I would suggest you try configuring a proxy authentication under MDS configuration for the local URL of your sharepoint. I don't know how to enable Authentication for that browser @Mark When you browse the internet using the Internet Browser, it uses your carrier's internet connection - Kind of like having a public IP When using Blackberry Browser, the traffic all gets funneled through your BES (MDS) and goes out your corporate internet. So assuming you allow internet traffic through you corporate internet, a BB user can get to the public internet from either browser. Every time we configure the phones with BlackBerry Browser, users are getting 403's and 402's. So let me guess, we are having issues with MDS then? ________________________________ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mendoza.Ronald Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2010 9:19 AM To: A list for BES Admin's to discuss issues, etc. Subject: Re: [Bes-admins] HTTP 401 Errors AFAIK, intranet access is only available via the BlackBerry Browser. The Internet Browser comes in from the Internet, while the BlackBerry Browser is accessing your network via the BES itself. ________________________________ Ron Mendoza Windows Server Management Section Lead State of California From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jeff Peters Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2010 8:22 AM To: A list for BES Admin's to discuss issues, etc. Subject: [Bes-admins] HTTP 401 Errors I'm trying to get users to access our intranet (sharepoint) from outside and they're getting the 401 Unauthorized using the internet browser.. I've enabled Authentication =True for MDS for the blackberry browser, but how do I enable it for Internet Browser? I'd use the Blackberry Browser but they get an HTTP 500 when they try it from the inside.. Any help is appreciated! The other thought was to even migrate from BES to BES Express, but I was pretty sure that there would be certain features unavailable to differentiate the two products. ________________________________ Ron Mendoza Windows Server Management Section Lead State of California From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of DOWER, BRIAN Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2010 9:31 AM To: A list for BES Admin's to discuss issues, etc. Subject: Re: [Bes-admins] BES vs BES Express Thanks for that, I hadn't noticed any other differences than you listed below. Items 1 and 3 aren't an issue for us here, unfortunately we already have a BES server so it doesn't look like we'll be able to use BES Express. I had wanted to keep the BES Server for our exec staff, etc and use BES Express for all the people who brought in their personal Blackberry's. Doesn't look like that's going to happen. To be honest, the settings we use for password complexity and content protection are there, so I didn't notice what was missing/unavailable. * No MDS support? As far as I can tell, there is no MDS support which also includes accessing intranet via BlackBerry Browser. I also didn't see a way to disable the Internet Browser, thus forcing all web browsing through the corporate proxy/firewall (which we enforce), making BES Express a no-go for us. * No Instant Messaging support? Also as far as I can tell, there is no enterprise instant messaging integration. This is also a no-go for us as we integrate into our LCS environment. Did anyone else notice the same things or anything different? ________________________________ Ron Mendoza Windows Server Management Section Lead State of California ________________________________ CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This email from the State of California is for the sole use of the intended recipient and may contain confidential and privileged information.
