Sorry for causing all the confusion. Im talking about DLs that are in your personal address book. We have BES 5.0 but none of our users have 5.0 on their devices. Also, we are in an exchange environment.

When you do a lookup it is a live connection back to your Exchange through the BES, our GAL/DL's are not synced down to the BB. The OP asked about syncing local distribution lists. A later post commented about syncing the GAL/OAB.
