There is a built-in section called 'Compliance Manager' inside the GOOD
app. From there a canned rule is Jailbreak (and rooting) detection.

I took your standards on iPhones as well. Back in November I went into
a GOOD review with a grain of salt. Worried about it as a solution.
Since that time, we've implemented a few security profiles and multiple
iPhones/iPads in our environment (we are Government, so we are extremely
HIPPA-conscious).

The original question was looking for answers from a working
environment. It currently works in our environment. Seems a lot easier
to manage outside of the BES. Very customizable policies. Our GOOD
iPhone policy essentially mirrors our BlackBerry policy. It works for
us, it might not work for others.

Interesting about the VPN issues. Thanks for the heads up.

Off-Topic: We got to the point here where executive folks wanted
iPhones and iPads. Our goals as administrators is to "...make
technology succeed when it meets a need that people care about."
Furthermore, "...If it doesn't meet a need it is doomed to extinction"

GOOD does not secure the entire device. It only secures the App. Keep in
mind that any app on the phone can use the device's data connection, so
if end users VPN through GOOD your backend network is still vulnerable
to outside apps. Also, BES and BlackBerry can replicate the same
personal vs work on the device, and allows for significantly better
security.

Not to mention with a fully patched iPhone being able to be jailbroken
within a few moments, and no way to stop it, I would question anything
that "secures" that device. (This is the same with rooting on Android).

We've been using Good Technology for iPhones (also supports Androids
etc).
Nice, containerized application for the iPhone. So deleting a device
isn't actually deleting the phone, it only deletes the application.
Utilizes iPhones native Apple Push Notification Service (APNS). I like
the security on it.

We have the same issue here. There are some third party companies that
say they can support iPhones with the same level of care as BES but I
have yet to actually get one to work. We purchased a solution but it
was very difficult to install and we still don't have the results we
were promised.

My company is pushing to open activesync to start testing Iphones. I
have nothing against the iphone but in a business I feel the Blackberry
is better designed. Has anyone else had this issue and what argument
pieces did you find to support your case?
