It is impossible to press the break twice because the desktop is dead
after the first break until the J program stops after few seconds.
Maybe the reason is that the computer (2GHz Pentium) is running
Win2000. Testing the same with a XP there is no such delay.

Also you may want to check the memory:
if disk thrusting happens, than it's the
operating system that becomes irresponsive,
so you can't help it until it finished swapping.
To solve that you need to manage memory
use with probably lowering the memory limit
or restructuring your code.
