I made a mistake when I thought I had done the chmod +x to the unix files at the site. I have now done it correctly.

If it isn't too much trouble could you please try the download and run again to see if you still require the chmod +x or if you get some other complaint.

First comment about install in OS 10.4.10 --

Strange/weird - (compared to any other application I've seen)

chmod +x was indeed required. Or alternatively, "sourced" as -
iMg5:~/Desktop jkt$ . ./j602abeta_mac_powerpc.bin.sh

Strange to be in a /bin/sh dialog - feels so "last century..."

In Fedora 7 (eagerly anticipating 64-bit J).

I'm not as concerned as Joey about /bin/sh install (it is still used for
some Linux software, including Sun Java), although an rpm file is
preferable.

The install did require chmod +x, but that was it, and it was very fast.
Nice to not have to copy libraries. In particular, it can now be
installed by a non privileged user.

Jwd and jconsole work straight out the box.

The package installer worked fine.

OpenGL does not work, but I could never get it to work in J601, either.

I am glad to see the o. changes. The previous versions were annoying and
confusing, especially when using plot.

I have to try out M. , but I hope this will be a considerable improvement.

Best wishes,

John
