I try to keep all of my stuff off the C drive. Although Microsoft install
disks have the ability to reinstall or "fix" the system without wiping the C
drive the installs that come with most laptops do not all this. In other
words, if your system gets messed up you lose all data on the C drive. So, I
partition the disk and keep my data on another drive. I use the C drive for
the system and applications I can reinstall from other sources.

I don't want my J user folder in C:\Users\* or anywhere else on the C drive.

A little help would be appreciated on a non-J but related issue. I was
forced to Vista and, with folders that seem to exist only while you are
logged on and folders which require more permissions than I can get to
access, I can't get many of my applications to store their data off the C
drive by default. Has anyone else figured out how to deal with this?
