My point was that I've always used

      fread =: 1!:1@<

and never use the one from 'files' - I wasn't paranoid that I 
wouldn't be able to retrofit my simplistic definitions, just saying 
.....

On the streamed IO and ReadLine() - I agree that could be really useful!
