Sorry I'm not familiar enough with emacs or jee to help. 

Currently the graphics/viewmat addon looks like it is coded to use Gtk (see 
vmrun_jviewmat_ and vmwin_jviewmat_).

However I imagine at some stage that the output format of utilities like 
viewmat will depend on the JFE that is being used. So for example if JHS where 
the front end, viewmat would output a png image that would be displayed in the 
browser session.
