I took the advice & tried downloading 701beta. After some moments of bafflement when I ran Jconsole and was presented with what looked like a DOS window, I tried jhs and then followed the instructions and got something on the browser.
All I really want is to make sure that the good old JFE is still available, and to see what engine changes there are so I can put them into my book. I managed to find JAL but it doesn't seem to have an ide/jfe like I was expecting. I hope this is just an omission! Also, I couldn't find a list of engine changes for this release. I haven't tried learning to love the new IDE, but some things I missed in the first 5 minutes are: ctrl-r to run a line when I run an ijs window, the output doesn't show up in the ijx unless I do something in the ijx window To have multiple IJS windows visible all at once, do I have to have many browsers open? I hope not, as each browser has a bunch of menu junk & buttons that costs much desktop space. I'm sure it will get better. But for now, how do I find & run the JFE?
