The captions for tables/dsv and tables/tara have been abbreviated to increase the information density, hopefully they are now more useful.
Obviously graphical interfaces are able to deal with the longer lines where "terminal" interfaces can't. J602 Package Manager was the original, jpkg was developed later (for j602) to provide access to JAL from the console. JHS jal (package manager) was built on top of jpkg, whereas J701 Package Manager was ported more or less directly from J602 Package Manager. At some point I imagine it will be worth completing the separation of the underlying API for JAL access from the user interfaces.
