Interesting - I just did what I mentioned in the previous post... "gracefully" stopped slimserver and then started it again from the tray icon (in XP)... this time a web browser window (in Firefox) never auto-opened... but after waiting for it to do so, which is normally pretty fast, I refreshed the one I had open, and the server was responding happily, definitely in 30 seconds or less from the time of start... so it looks like maybe I could be right about the fact that I haven't been starting from any situation other than a crash or upgrade install, which is why there's constantly been a big delay, as it cleans up what it thinks are old cache files?
