2) Rhapsody, for me, is dead. Although my Squeezebox reads out the
name of the track it's trying to play, no sound comes out. This is
most frustrating. I have tried turning everything off and back on, the
usual fix, but no luck. I have no idea what to do now.

If you are using the latest 6.5.1 with firmware 69, this is a known bug and will be fixed in firmware 70 which is undergoing testing. Wait for that, or downgrade to 6.5.0.

3) With every new install I have done of SlimServer except the one I
did just now, I have been asked to update the firmware in my
Squeezebox. I have trouble believing this is really necessary, and if
it isn't I wish this behavior would be eliminated.

*shrug* New features often require new firmware.

4) Back on Rhapsody -- there are so many bugs one encounters when using Rhapsody that I wouldn't even know where to start reporting them, and I tend to assume it's so obvious that there are problems that there is no
point in doing so, since anyone seriously attempting to use it will
encounter them instantly. Yet a search of the bug database turns up
only 4 hits on "Rhapsody". Am I the only one who finds serious
problems with the web interface?

Please file bugs you see with Rhapsody, it should work fine from both the player and web UI (assuming you're not using firmware 69. :)

To take one example, picking a Rhapsody album to play does not cause
the tracks to be listed in the right pane. Refreshing to cause that to
happen puts the left pane back to the top level rather than keeping it
within the artist, which is really annoying. I believe I reported this
and it was hooked to another bug, but I don't know how to check for
that.

Works for me, although I am using 6.5.1 with firmware 70 (not yet released). You have to wait a few seconds for the right pane to populate with tracks.
