Different applications may decide to store music in different places.
For example, if you were to have multiple user logins under WinXP, and a WinXP user has stored music in "My Music", it is easy to add a shortcut to it to pull it into your slimserver music library, without copying music files around. Another example is iTunes, for example downloading podcasts. I don't think you can define a separate podcast folder. You may have a large folder of iTunes music files, but only want podcasts to be pulled into the slimserver music folder.
