I'm not sure I can exlain much further Michael. When I first looked at the SC7 web gui a month ago my initial (and gut) reaction was that it looked very cool indeed. Indeed, excitng! One month later I looked at it again and the immediate impression is that it has begun to look more like the old default skin (plus some nice buttons). As I can't see the installation I did a month ago ago now (not without lots of hassle anyway) I can't make a direct comparison however, two things are obvious:
1) The white background looks like something has not loaded correctly and has more in common with the dodgy "Settings" pages than it does with the original and elegant designed "look" of the main pages. 2) My library was empty. In Firefox the word "Empty" appeared as some little scrappy default text jammed right up against the border. Other text looked similarly "amateurish" and plain. The white background makes the text look generally scrappier than the coloured background did.. My impressions regarding the group design effort were gained from skimming through this extremely long thread. I have read more of it now and can see that there is lots of good and useful input regarding the general functionality and placement of buttons etc. My point was (as has been pointed out) about the overall "look" of the GUI... the thing that first hits you on a emotional level when you first open the app. It is this that I am sure would benefit from a uber-designer... (once the interface functionality has been sorted out by the forum users perhaps). I'd be really depressed if the new gui ended up looking anything at all like the last default skin.
