Hmmm.. I'm having lots of trouble with UNC paths versus mapped drives in
SC7 and I guess that this is probably related... except my probelm seems
to be the reverse of yours.

As I did a clean install of 7 very recently my version of SC7 does not
run as a service anymore, but runs as an application instead (this on
XP). The change from running the software as a service (as 6.5 does and
SC7 did previously) to running it as an application is due to problems
with running SC7 as a service on Vista (according to Michael Herger).

If you look at Windows Services and see only the SqueezeMySQL service
them your SC7 is running as an application. If you also see the
SqueezeCenter (or it might still be called SlimServer) service running
it's errr... runnning as a service.

My problem is that although all the paths entered into my shortcuts,
playlists and SC7's settings for Playlists folder and Music folder are
in UNC format SC7 insists on translating the paths in my playlists (and
my playlists only) into paths using mapped drive letters.

The result is that SC7 lists any music that appears in playlists twice,
once with a UNC path and once with a mapped drive path.

I'd much rather SC7 (when working either as an app or as a service)
used the shorter mapped paths. However, due to the cross-platform
nature of the application I think this is hard or even impossible to
implement (I might be wrong). But, if my recent experience is anything
to go by the UNC vs mapped drive issue will become a technical support
headache so something will have to be done.

My vote is for mapped drives!

Michael Herger seem to be main public/forum face of SC7 development but
I think he has been away this week. He may well jump in on this thread
when/if he comnes back next week (if only to say I'm taking rubbish).
I'd wait till then before posting a bug.
