Thanks to everyone for their input. I note that others have reported not
seeing this on Linux, so it looks like a Windows-specific thing.

My setup:

1. SqueezeCenter 7.0a1 (nightly build from 7th Dec) running on Windows
2000 Professional SP4.

2. SqueezeCenter is running as a service. (I've never had any problems
with it failing to start).

3. Music Folder is *C:\SlimServerMusic*. However, since my library is
bigger than one hard disk, *C:\SlimServerMusic* contains just a pair of
shortcuts: one to *\cdrive\FLAC.A-M*, the other to *\edrive\FLAC.N-Z*;
within each of these two folders the files are in a hierarchy
*<artist>\<album>\<flac files>*. (For example, "The Wall" is in the
folder *\\musicserver\edrive\FLAC.N-Z\Pink Floyd\The Wall*).

4. I see the same problem (full pathname displayed) on SB2, Transporter
and Jive handset, so I think it has to be a SqueezeCenter issue. I first
noticed it a few builds ago; I think, but cannot be certain, that some
early builds of 7.0 did not exhibit the problem.

Are there any debugging flags I can switch on to help? And if so, how
do I turn them on in Windows? (Would I have to run SqueezeCenter as a
application from a command prompt)?
