Hi, Decided to give SC7 a try today. Have been running slimserver 6.5.5/Linux with Squeezebox V3 player until now. Removed 6.5 completely, downloaded nightly RPM for 7.0 and installed it. Player's firmware upgraded without a hitch. A few problems I've encountered:
RPM install complained about missing dependency for mysqld_safe. My distro does not have such file, it has safe_mysqld instead. Had to override with --nodeps. squeezecenter service somehow conflicted with the local DNS server provided by my NetGear WiFi router. About 80% of the DNS requests failed. I suspect this has something to do with the mDNSResponderPosix binary fired by service startup script. Killing it seemed to resolve the issue. I have Avahi mDNS service running already. "service squeezecenter stop" failed to terminate SC7-produced instances of mysqld and aforementioned mDNSResponder. I had similar problem with 6.5.5 (6.5.4 was OK) and fixed it but cannot recall details at the moment. I think it was some incorrect obsolete command line syntax for system "kill" command used in init script. I'll have to look into it. Pandor service does not work from Squeezebox player when connected to local SC7 server (error: can't connect to server) while it works when player is connected to SqueezeNetwork Beta. Strangely enough, it works both ways from the Web interface. It's a pity there is zero documentation on SC7. Makes beta testing feel like a puzzle.
