Sorry for not being specific. I am using ALTLinux (www.altlinux.com) which is not as popular as Ubuntu or Fedora I admit. It is sort of cross-breed between Debian and RedHat, RPM-based but using APT repositories. That said, I usually have no problems installing third-parties software on it. It is mostly RedHat-compatible. > The init script was tested with various versions of Fedora, CentOS and > SUSE. Again, let me know what distro this is and I'll look at it. Well, I am currently on unstable version and they usually have latest (but sometimes not so greatest) version of coreutils (coreutils-5.97). I've tried "service start|stop" a few times and that's what I can report: if I kill mDNSResponderPosix process manually after "service squeezecenter start", then "service stop" works fine, terminating everything SC-related. If mDNSResponderPosix wass running when "service stop" executed then it will only terminate squeezecenter-server daemon process, leaving both mDNSResponderPosix and mysqld running. My guess init script crashes on mDNSResponderPosix. I also still have DNS problems even after terminating mDNSResponderPosix manually, although not as bad as when it is running. Like long delays in name resolution and about 1/3 failures. Looks like every time it runs it messes up with my router somehow, leaving its DNS server totally confused. I have to restart the router to get it back to operational. My slimserver box is also my main desktop computer, so it looks like SC7 is no go for me at the moment. I would like to help debugging the problems as much as I can, however. I also discovered that not only Pandora but RadioTime also does not work from the palyer when it is connected to local slimserver: error, can't connect to server.
