I'm sorry to jump into this thread; might be this is not the right
forum.
The idea of favourites vs playlists is not so clear to me (from the end
user point of view). What is the usage area of both of them? Does one of
them belong to the online radio and other online stuff, while the second
one is just a "shortcut" to your collection? You can today mark a
playlist as favorite, which also adds to the confusion.
I suppose the team shall look at these functions from an end user side,
and try to clearly define areas of usage.
My suggestion would be, that favorites become clearly related to an
online source of any kind: radio, podcast, etc. The only way to create
favorite should be from currently playing stream of any kind. For
example: you tune to a station via URL, start playing it, and then
click a buttom to add the currently playing stream to your favorite
list. This should give you more options, like favorite name, preferred
volume (an old feature request), default "now playing" format, option
to assign a bottom 0-9 for quick access and so on.
Playlists, on the other hand, shall relate to stored audio collection:
you add numerous tracks/albums to a current play list of one of your
players, and then you have an option to save this playlist.

I understand that technically this would rather limit all the available
options. But sometimes this is better than opening too many
possibilities.

Again, sorry if this is not the place (or time).:)
