It could well be related to Norton Antivirus which (depending on your
version) may well have an "on access" scanning feature. Every time you
access a file, Norton scans it to see if it is suspcious or dangerous or
could harm your computer. Cuing a song up to play in Slimserver may
very well trigger this process. It is a very CPU intensive process and
may well hang up the signals to your SB.

If you're wedded to Norton (and there are IMHO much better security and
antivirus products out there), try excluding both the Slimserver folder
and your music files from the realtime scanning protection. Or, try
switching realtime file scanning off entirely and see if that fixes
your problem (which at least gives us an idea what is causing it, and
others may then be able to suggest how to fix it whilst maintaining
Norton file scanning in some form).
