Following the discussions in various threads (including this one) about
the scrobbling of tracks that are listened to via internet radio ... I
did some experiments and reported the findings in the last.fm forum.

Basically - the official Slimdevices last.fm addin does scrobble tracks
(not all - depends on the underlying saupport from the source, the meta
data and length of track) and flags then with "R" to indicate that the
track was not selected directly by the listener (i.e. internet radio).
To the obvious surprise of many users - these tracks really do end up
in your last.fm listening profile.
last.fm say that they take the source (internet radio) into account
when generating recommendations (e.g. lower weighting to playing your
own music) - but it does stay in your profile.

I then went to some real internet radio stations and got SqueezeCenter
to scrobble info ... I picked ones that I could see would generate
nonsense.
I know that people's complaints here are more about genuine music
appearing the profile which you don't want ... but I thought that if I
could easily show that rubbish gets in there then it was more likely to
get interest from last.fm
I then used that rubbish to find other listeners who had been
scrobbling without realising it and now last.fm have said that they
will look into it again.

More details here
http://www.last.fm/group/Last.fm+Web+Services/forum/21604/_/454500
however, I have cleaned up my test tracks since then but you will get
the idea.

Meanwhile - I think it would be good to have a switch to disable
SqueezeCenter from scrobbling internet radio plays. So I am hacking one
line of Perl in mine to turn it off but an option would be better.
