You said the magic word "portaudio" I had a lot of trouble building SP in the first place for my Ubuntu machine.
Short story: the whole portaudio suite something (with bells and whistles ) of latest issue is installed on my machine, i don't use it but SP needs it. Performance my 1.2Ghz(via epia) 1GB ClarkConnect 4.2 (no GUI ) box runs 7.4 really good I can transcode one 24/96 stream possible more if of lower bitrate. This is my headless server, a realy good idea to have one, it's really only doing one thing running SC. without transcoding it idles at 8% web UI activity peaks it at 60-70% but does not interupt anything. WEB is fast no problems. It never swaps any memory what i can see. I think linux can make prioritys realy good Most really low power platforms has really slow web-UI so people only use it for settings and initiating scan. The web UI seem to use more CPU than SC itself. Funny enough it has been said in the past that it's actually slower to run web UI on the same machine as SC is running on regardless of performance.
