Was the file left behind in InstalledPlugins/Plugins/AACplus ? or somewhere else ?. The Extension Downloader should have deleted the InstalledPlugins/Plugins/AACplus directory.
I removed my AACplus plugin after I had upgraded SC and it was OK. The AAC+ title was part of my AACplus plugin. The file type AAC covers AAC files, AAC streams and AAC+ streams. The file type MP4 covers files with MPEG-4 headers which are usually have m4a extensions.
