As for Internet Radio vs. Podcasts, I'd vote for fixing this even if it has adverse affects on the Squeezecenter podcast support. I haven't even tried using Squeezecenter to listen to podcasts in years, because it didn't at all do what I wanted. I wanted it to download the MP3 in the off-hours so it's immediately ready for me to listen to, and so I can easily jump through the podcast without waiting for the download. I wanted it to remember where I left off in each podcast. I ended up using a different app to download podcast music files into my Squeezecenter music library -- this works much better than the old Slimserver podcast support. In my opinion, the adverse effect you describe Philip's suggestion having on podcasts is only an adverse effect because of how weak the podcast support is.
