I have a suggestion for the scanner functionality concerning year/date and artwork for an *album* - for example, I have an album compiled in 2004, but I have tagged the individual songs with their own year of release (1976, 1985, whatever) and their own artwork (from the original single release cover). There is a folder.jpg that is a 'cover' for the album as a whole. When scanned by SC (SBS?), the album year and cover is set to that of the last track (1976). I can change the album year to 2004 in the SQLite DB no probs, but the album cover is trickier, because of the artwork cache thing. I'm guessing that folder.jpg image is not scanned or stored by SC, since all the tracks have their own embedded cover, and if it is scanned, I don't know how to find its cache ID.
My suggestion therefore, is that the scanner could make use of a custom tag (e.g. ALBUMYEAR) and any image file (folder.jpg, cover.jpg, etc. as normal) and set these for the album only. In the event these don't exist, the current behaviour is fine.
