continued to try to isolate the issue: - started with a fresh install of squeezeboxserver (7.5 beta) and new prefs + new cache=> it works fine
I modified the file type settings to have all files played as native only if possible or transcoded to PCM (for ALAC mainly)... the issue is back again :/ tried again a new install with new prefs/cache and played with file types settings again and this is what I noticed: - with the latest builds I used, now the ALAC files are transcoded as MP4s (before it was made by the server as quicktime movies)... - now all ALAC are played ok, transcoded as MP4s BUT only transcoded to FLACs. If I disable the FLAC transcoding (+native) to have it transcoded with FAAD to PCM I get the error message again. If I enable the transcoding to FLAC, it works fine again. So apparently at this time ALAC files are handled as MP4s and can only be transcoded to FLAC. Transcoding to PCM seems broken at some point.
