when I mean native, it's for the MP4 file type.
In my case, ALL ALAC files are considered as MP4s files.
Before that it was sent as quicktime movies (???).

If I leave the "standard" file type settings, it's always transcoded as
FLAC (and my ALACs are considered as MP4s). 

Before that, I always changed the file types to have things transcoded
to the format I prefered (PCM if transcoding was needed, native if the
format was handled directly by the SB) and it worked fine. And I see no
reason why I should not do so. Why would it be only good to change
something in there to fix something (which anyway would not fix
anything, since only one setting seems to work for ALACs)?
Now, since 7.5 at least, it does not work and ALACs are not handled as
ALACs.

By the way I'm running the SB server on Mac OS 10.6.3...
