If you tagged the album with Album Artist="Various", then it shouldn't appear
as a compilation album within Various Artists, but as a regular album by artist
"Various" (unless you are also adding a Compilation tag)?

Browse Artists should show all artists where they have at least one "regular"
album (where they are the sole performer, or identified as the album artist).

If you tag such an album with an album artist, then it should appear within
Browse Artists with that name. Unless you are ALSO tagging the album as a
compilation, in which it is a compilation album.

I haven't tried this in 7.6, perhaps something has changed/been broken.
More likely though it is the handling of embedded cuesheets that is iffy? I'm
guessing that although you have a PERFORMER that is not associated with a track
(making it the album artist), it is still recording the album as a compilation
(is there a tag name in cuesheets to control compilation indication?). Does
the album show up within Various Artists? You could try tagging the actual
.flac file with COMPILATION=0, and then it might appear under your album artist
name (and nowhere else). Perhaps you could try converting one of your albums
from cuesheet?
