Does it really spawn new processes? SBS should die if port 3483 is already in 
use.

There's a bug report about SBS eating all memory on some Linux systems. But 
we've never been able to reproduce it. Would be great if you could figure out 
what's going on there. Maybe --d_startup would help us get more information.

If it happens, then there is a reason :-). I doubt it's a good reason.
