"ps aux|grep slimserver.pl" at least lists a lot of them. I'm always
starting it with --d_startup and in the console I only see the logs
from the first process and it just stops logging stuff after the plugin
initialization, I'll take a look at the log files the next time it
happens and see if the other instances logs something.

Is there some timeout so it automatically tries to launch another
slimserver.pl if the startup takes too long ?
