login to mysqueezebox.com from the web. on the top you have a menu option PLAYERS. Click on this. This should open a page that shows all your players on the left hand side of page. Click on the player, and on the right side of the page you'll have lots of info. Right underneath the title "Player Firmware Version" you should see a value. Probably "50". This is most current. p.s. I use my boom alarm every day and it always works. But I guess my use pattern is very different. An internet radio stream comes on, then goes off 60 minutes later. I'm not using the snooze button. One advantage (disadvantage) of growing older is that I don't really NEED to be woken up.
