In the DB, the tracks have contributor role = 1 (standard Artist role), NOT role = 6 (Track Artist). I think the DB only holds the artists as Track Artist role when the album has an Album Artist. When COMPILATION=1, it doesn't set an album artist contributor role.
Not sure that helps at all, but thought I'd include that as an example in case it sparks any ideas from any one. Just a thought: what setting value have you chosen for the option: "My Music > Filter genres at the album & track level."?
