I can believe that, to a large extent. I've not used WinAmp for a long time,
but there are several apps that have functionality that sounds very similar.
I find an awfull lot of Erland's plugins to be quite easy to setup - to do most
of what it said here is not all that hard. eg. Custom Browse has several
layers to it:

1. Choose menus from pre-configured lists. i.e. ones provided by the plugin,
or by other people that have published their menus.
2. Create new menus from pre-configured templates. Just pick some values from
various options to tailor the menu a bit further from the default published
ones.
3. Further complex configurations, eg. writing SQL to do something not provided
by templated menus.

I think (1) and (2) are pretty easy to work out, albeit done through html
pages, rather than drag & drop. (3) is a power user thing that allows you to
do pretty much anything.

The thing is that the browse menus need to work across a multitude of different
interfaces, which other apps like WinAmp haven't got to worry about so much.

Worse than that, the new UI interfaces are less functional than previous SB
models. e.g. using Touch stand-alone has less configuration options. It is
more likely that future revisions of SBS have less options than today, as they
standardise UI features for ease of maintenance. e.g. the "One browser" branch
of development may cause some changes in functionality?
