u haven't missed anything... its the under the hood and obvious
things...

i can't remember so much being changed in a point release. given the
move to sqlite, faster/better scanning and auto scanning, upnp, and so
on i think 8.0 is warranted. this feels like its going to be a
milestone release. after this, i would think adding video support and
improving the browsing exp would be the next big things to tackle.

i think you are really underestimating what upnp will do not just
functionally, but in terms of exposure of the product. no one would
use SBS 7.5 or earlier unless they 1. had the hardware, or 2. had some
really niche usage SBS filled. most people using the software do so
b/c of #1.

however, upnp server ability will make it attractive to users who
currently pay for stuff like twonky, and who have a ps3 or other dlna
gear. this exposure will generate some sales that otherwise would
never have happened. this will only grow once video is added. the
revue may be how andy got the greenlight to do it, but i think and have
always thought upnp ability will have positive benefits that go beyond
just supporting the revue, so if its the excuse needed, so be it.
