As JJZolx said, it's not really important if it's called 7.6 or 8.0.
People around here are already used to calling it 7.6 and bugzilla
targets is named 7.6, so based to this I suspect Logitech is going to
continue calling it 7.6 to avoid unnecessary confusion.

I'm not sure about you, but for a system which needs to just work, I
usually avoid jumping to a x.0 release too fast, it's better to let
other people tackle any problems first so I can just follow their
solutions when I install it. A x.6 release feels safe so I usually dare
to install it pretty quickly even before a lot of other users have tried
it.

So I'm pretty sure you will get faster adoption with 7.6 than 8.0, if
fast adaption is important. From a maintenance perspective I suspect
Logitech would prefer a bit slower adoption so they are able to handle
the extra load on the support staff related to new SQLite problems and
MySQL to SQLite conversion problems which haven't been found yet.
