I feel it should remain supported by Logitech, but the community could provide
patches. At least until the current restructuring of the core software is
stable, anyway. It would at least serve as a good example on how to implement
mixers, integration with the scanner, etc.

There's other SBS plugins that integrate to third-party plugins that could be
considered similarly, eg. iTunes, Amazon CD Store, Information Browser sources
(BBC News, etc), Facebook, Flickr, Last.FM, that may need more maintenance, and
not be used as much as MusicIP.

Not much - I supplied a few patches that got integrated. The thing is my
patches worked, but were tidied up by devs that know perl a bit better than me
;-)

There shouldn't be much to maintain. I don't think there's been much to do to
keep the MusicIP plugin working over the years. After all, MusicIP software
isn't changing.

There's probably also not that much that could be added as new features.
MusicIP isn't being updated, and the API doesn't allow for all that many more
features. Only when SBS core functionality changes, could it open the way for
needing maintenance or allow new features.

I haven't got time to maintain it on my own, but if there are problems, I can
help to fix and supply patches.
