What I see:

I can uninstall squeezebox and remove all settings. Fresh start with
any luck :)
Service is removed, delete squeezebox folder C:\Program Files
(x86)\Squeezebox

I run installer on a fairly vanilla Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64. It has
no weird stuff with user rights its all stock.

-After installer I leave "launch control panel" ticked and click
finish.
-The installer finishes and the control panel launches.
-I believe squeezeboxserver is running as a user application at this
point???
-There is SQEEZ~3.EXE *32, squeezeboxcp.exe *32, SqueezeTray.exe *32
running
-I alter the startup method to "automatically run at system start" in
the control panel, enter my local machines username and password and
click apply
-Squeezebox Control Panel UI becomes unresponsive for a few seconds
then returns to normal
-Watching in the system services the service is NOT added

-If I open Squeezebox Control Panel from the start menu I can reproduce
these results again.

-If I open Squeezebox Control Panel from the start menu with
administration rights I can successfully set the setting

-If I open Squeezebox Control Panel from the squeezebox systray icon
with a double click the control panel I can successfully set the
setting

I have seen much more weird things happen with settings being confused
between admin versus non admin before but at this second cant
reproduce.

I also dont think the Squeezebox Server is very clear at all about what
its actually doing.
Eg:
When is squeezebox running as a service versus as an application?
What setting effects this and when does it take effect?
Why dont you mention somewhere that mapped drives dont work when
running as a service(even though nearly all users will have no idea
what mode they are running in) :P
What are all these executables(SqueezeSvr.exe, squeezeboxsvc.exe,
squeezeboxcp.exe, SqueezeTray.exe)?
