What matters for a user is the user interface. Wide audience won't accept poor software and slow behavior, just because "this is great complete integrated software/hardware system you cannot compare with simple software" You can think about foobar, mediamonkey, winamp, sonos, soloos, Apple products, cambridge server, whatever ... it doesn't really matter. If it is not user friendly, it is not user friendly. period. If it is too slow for my library, it is too slow for my library. period. Now if you are targetting a few hundred (a few dozens ?) of fans ready to accept that, no problem. I am just absolutely convinced that Logitech won't stay in such a confidential market. In that case, squeezebox hardware production will have to be DIY Open Hardware Design and build ... I see more and more Squeezebox owners thinking in using some Nettop computer with remote, running Windows and something like Jriver or foobar, with a good external Dac. If Touch software doesn't improve soon, that's what I will do myself. (Forget about TinySBS with its current autorescan). If you really need a computer to run the server, and if user interface and performance are far worse than the same computer with a good software and a dac, the question obviously comes to mind. -- nicolas75 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ nicolas75's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15823 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86628 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
