I can't tell if the photo upsizing/downsizing/re-sampling is happening at the server end or at the client. That's one way that LMS could potentially distinguish itself from the DLNA "competition": by re-sampling picture data and pre-caching thumbnail and display images in sizes appropriate for the client so that the server can offer them up in a speedy fashion. Being able to zip through large photo albums on a big-ass TV would appeal to a lot of folks, I'd think.
That, and giving the user some control over caption info other than by just scanning exif info. If libmediascan could optionally scan a text file and extract a caption "tag" for a given photo file and communicate that to the client at runtime...I think that would make lots of folks happy. Editing EXIF info in the actual photo files is a PITA in my experience. But if the scanner was able to, for: /photos/unique/path/filename.jpg ..also scan tags from: /photos/unique/path/filename.tag and extract a: CAPTION="Some silly pun that makes this an amusing caption.." ..then I'm sure that would give LMS a leg-up on other DLNA servers. -- gharris999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89025 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
