Mostly because I object to the idea that I already have "Mark Knopfler" and "Emmylou Harris" defined as artists (individually) on other tracks/albums and I don't want to be forced to synthesise a new hybrid "albumartist" (e.g. "Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris"). I understand for sure why other folks might want to do this / be happy to do this... but I don't because it messes (slightly) with my artist count stats... and also there is no absolute sense in which the tag can be deemed "correct"; "Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris" could just as well be "Emmylou Harris & Mark Knopfler" - it's an arbitrary choice - and I hate those.
