Of course you can.
The market shares are known.

- Windows is by far the main market, the one you cannot afford to miss.

- OSX is a small, but interesting market, with users ready to pay for
hype an ease of use.

- Linux and NAS are anecdotic (especially Linux desktop), market of
technical aware users often ready to accept very poor user interface,
especially if you give them funny tweaks taking several hours per day
of their time.

mysqueezebox.com data ratios are apparently
- Windows vs Linux 1.6 : 1
- Linux vs OSX 3 : 1

Linux+NAS market share is so small compared to Windows+OSX, that having
so big proportion on Linux+NAS for SBS, necessarily means that volumes
are very low.

If I sell products, and tell you that 50% is used on MS-DOS ...
It means the total volume cannot exceed twice the number of domestic
computers with MS-DOS.
Will you believe me if I tell you it is a successful product ???
Will you say that it is not possible to extrapolate sales volumes ???

I agree with you NAS is a nonsense in a domestic use.
There is hype about it, but honestly, among all the people you know,
having a computer at home, how many of them have a NAS ?

Here in France, I found Squeezeboxes in big stores a few years ago.
Most of them drop them.
That means it doesn't meet the average user demands.
Namely stability, reliability, ease of use, mainly, if not only, on
Windows/OSX
Most customers won't ever care about multiroom or plugins.
